The Novoflex 8 x 12", Extra Large Flexible Zebra Check Card has a grey side that serves as a reference area for exposure metering and a white side that enables correct white balance that is so important in digital photography.
The camera takes a light reading of either side of the check card to perform an exposure measurement or white balance and, in a few seconds, the camera is set optimally for the prevailing light conditions to guarantee perfect shots.
