Mirage 5 supports Canon iP8700 and PRO series printers including PRO-1, PRO-10, PRO-100, PRO-300, PRO-10S and PRO-100S, and is available as a floating licence, allowing the software to be used across multiple computers, but only on one system at a time. It requires an active account on the Mirage licence server and an internet connection to operate; additional workstation licences are necessary if you wish to run Mirage 5 on more than one computer simultaneously, providing a flexible and efficient workflow and a great way to get a first taste of what Mirage 5 has to offer.

Print Templates

Mirage 5 includes powerful print templates designed for efficient and consistent image placement. Templates are built using "slots," which are defined areas where images can be inserted, freely rotated, scaled, and layered. Slots can overlap partially or completely and can be arranged in different stacking orders. Each slot is automatically assigned a number, allowing multiple slots with the same number to be filled simultaneously with a single image-ideal for applications such as passport or ID photos. Users can also apply pixel or vector masks to control which parts of an image are visible, and any custom layout can be saved as a reusable template, ensuring flexibility and workflow efficiency.

Template Editor

The Template Editor in Mirage 5 enables users to create custom templates with ease using an intuitive and purpose-built interface. Users can select solid colours or import their own images as template backgrounds, adjust slot size and positioning via the Slot Frame settings, and define how images scale within each slot using flexible scaling options. Individual masks can also be applied per slot, allowing for precise control and creative design, making the editor suitable for both simple and complex production workflows.

Free Layout of Files on the Spread

Mirage 5 allows complete freedom when arranging images on the print layout, enabling users to move, rotate, resize, and layer images independently. With support for overlapping elements, users can create collages, multipage layouts, and complex designs such as photo albums without restriction. Any layout created can be quickly converted into a reusable template, combining creative flexibility with time-saving efficiency.

Clear Program Interface

The redesigned Mirage 5 interface provides a cleaner, more efficient workflow by eliminating unnecessary windows and consolidating all tools into a single workspace. Files can be dragged directly into the Print Preview area, while the reorganised menu structure groups functions logically for easier navigation. The Mirage Job Archive is now fully integrated into the interface, removing the need for a separate application, and features like "Start Over" allow users to reset the workspace instantly without restarting the program.

Improved Print Preview

The enhanced print preview displays all pages side by side in a clear, scrollable layout, allowing users to easily review multi-page jobs. Navigation controls enable quick movement between pages, while the pixel-accurate preview ensures precise alignment and layout accuracy before printing, helping to minimise errors and improve output confidence.

File & Templates Browser

The File & Templates Browser provides an organised overview of all loaded images and available templates, making it easy to manage and locate content. Users can preview, search, filter, and sort files based on criteria such as placement status or orientation, and quickly drag and drop items into the layout, significantly improving efficiency when working with large or complex projects.

Multiple Print Jobs at the Same Time

Mirage 5 allows users to create and manage multiple print jobs simultaneously, offering greater flexibility in busy workflows. Jobs can be prepared, paused, deleted, or reprinted independently, enabling users to prioritise urgent tasks without interrupting ongoing projects, which is ideal for professional print environments.

"Undo/Redo" Function

The Undo/Redo function provides a flexible workflow by allowing users to reverse or reapply changes made to layouts or settings at any time. This includes manual image positioning and adjustments within the settings dialog, and once a job has been printed, the "Print" button changes to "Print Again" if no modifications have been made, enabling quick and efficient reprints.

Improved Handling/Placement of Embedded Logos

Mirage 5 simplifies the process of adding and positioning logos within print layouts by allowing users to scale, rotate, and move logos directly in the preview using intuitive on-screen controls. This ensures accurate placement and professional branding without requiring additional design software.

New Tools for Image Editing

Mirage 5 includes a range of non-destructive image editing tools that can be applied directly within the software. Users can apply Gaussian blur effects and drop shadows with adjustable parameters such as opacity, direction, softness, offset, and colour. Additional tools include auto colour, contrast adjustments, exposure control, white balance, sharpening, and support for Photoshop filters, all of which can be previewed with pixel-level accuracy for precise results.

New Print Mode "Only Black Ink"

For supported printers and media combinations, Mirage 5 offers an "Only Black Ink" mode that uses pure black ink instead of grey inks. This mode is ideal for producing high-contrast monochrome prints and specialised outputs requiring deep, consistent blacks.

Settings Option "Simulation"

The Simulation feature provides advanced proofing capabilities, allowing users to preview how prints will appear when output on different printers. By applying CMYK profiles, users can accurately simulate print results, ensuring colour consistency and reducing the risk of costly printing errors.

Additional Print Marks

Mirage 5 enhances print finishing control with advanced print mark options, including the ability to inset crop marks to prevent white edges. The "Page Print Marks" feature allows marks to be applied around the entire layout rather than individual images, with adjustable spacing to suit specific requirements, ensuring precision during trimming and production.

Mirage 5 is fully compatible with modern operating systems including macOS Ventura, Windows 11, and Adobe CC 2023, while also supporting Windows 10 and macOS High Sierra as minimum requirements.
