It requires an active account on the Mirage licence server and an internet connection to operate, with the single seat licence including an unlock key delivered via email directly after purchase; additional workstation licences are required if you wish to run the software on more than one computer simultaneously, providing flexibility for growing workflows while offering a great way to get a first taste of what Mirage 5 has to offer.

Print Templates

Mirage 5 provides highly versatile print templates specifically designed for efficient image placement. Templates contain numbered slots-square areas where images can be inserted, rotated, and layered. Multiple slots can share the same number, automatically filling all identical slots when an image is added, which is ideal for passport photos or applications. Users can apply pixel or vector "masks" to define the visible area of images, and custom layouts can be converted into reusable templates, saving time and ensuring consistent professional results.

Template Editor

The Template Editor allows users to create customised templates with ease. You can select monochrome or custom image backgrounds, adjust the size and layout of slots, scale images proportionally or freely, and assign individual masks to each slot. This intuitive editor is designed to save time, support creative freedom, and make professional-quality template creation accessible for both experienced users and newcomers.

Free Layout of Files on the Spread

Mirage 5 enables full freedom to arrange images on a spread. Images can be moved independently, overlapped, and layered in any order, allowing creative designs like collages or multipage photo albums. Layouts created in this way can be instantly converted into templates for repeated use, providing flexibility while maintaining professional quality in complex projects.

Clear Program Interface

The program interface in Mirage 5 is clean and organised, replacing the old "Drop Files Here" window with a drag-and-drop Print Preview area. The menu bar groups functions logically, and the integrated Mirage Job Archive removes the need for a separate application. Users can undo changes step by step or remove all loaded files without closing the program, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow.

Improved Print Preview

Mirage 5 features a pixel-accurate print preview that displays all pages side by side in a scrollable interface. Users can navigate through pages using simple buttons to move forward, backward, or jump to the first or last page. This allows precise control over multi-page layouts and ensures the final print matches the intended design.

File & Templates Browser

The File & Templates Browser provides a clear overview of uploaded images and available templates. Users can search, filter, preview, and drag files into the print area with ease. Filters allow sorting by placement status, orientation, or other criteria, streamlining file management and accelerating workflow for projects with large numbers of images.

Multiple Print Jobs at the Same Time

Mirage 5 supports creating and managing multiple print jobs simultaneously. Users can prepare, pause, or delete jobs independently, allowing urgent tasks to be completed without interrupting ongoing projects. This feature enhances flexibility, productivity, and control in professional print environments.

"Undo/Redo" Function

The Undo and Redo functionality allows users to revert or reapply any recent changes, such as moving images or adjusting settings, using menu options or standard keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl+Z / Shift+Ctrl+Z). Once a print job is sent, the "Print" button changes to "Print Again" if no further edits are made, simplifying reprints and workflow management.

Improved Handling and Placement of Embedded Logos

Mirage 5 allows full control when embedding logos in print files. Logos can be scaled, rotated, and repositioned freely within the print and page preview using handles. This ensures precise alignment and professional branding without the need for external graphic software.

New Tools for Image Editing

Mirage 5 includes advanced non-destructive image editing tools. Gaussian Blur and Drop Shadow can be applied to images directly within the software. Drop Shadow parameters such as opacity, direction, softness, offset, and colour can be customised. All edits are reflected in the print preview, enabling professional enhancements without leaving Mirage.

New Print Mode "Only Black Ink"

Mirage 5 supports a dedicated "Only Black Ink" mode on compatible printers, producing prints exclusively with black ink and excluding grey tones. This ensures high-quality monochrome prints for supported paper and printer combinations, ideal for documents or artistic applications.

Settings Option "Simulation"

The Simulation function allows users to preview how prints will appear on different printers by applying CMYK profiles. Found under the "Extra" tab, this proofing tool helps ensure accurate colour reproduction across devices, reducing errors and ensuring professional-quality output.

Additional Print Marks

Mirage 5 offers flexible print mark options, including inset crop marks to prevent white overlaps. The "Page Print Marks" function can place marks around an entire spread and can be customised for spacing and gaps. This ensures accurate trimming and alignment for complex multi-image layouts, supporting professional printing standards.

Mirage 5 is fully compatible with modern systems, including macOS 13 Ventura, Windows 11, and Adobe CC 2023, while supporting installation on macOS High Sierra or Windows 10 and above.
