It requires an active account on the Mirage licence server and an internet connection to operate, with the single seat licence including an unlock key delivered via email after purchase; additional workstation licences are required if you wish to run the software on more than one computer simultaneously, providing flexibility for expanding workflows while offering a great way to get a first taste of what Mirage 5 has to offer.

Print Templates

Mirage 5 provides versatile print templates designed to streamline image placement. Each template contains numbered slots, which are square areas where images can be inserted, freely rotated, and layered. Multiple slots can share the same number, automatically filling all identical slots when an image is added-ideal for passport or ID photos. Masks, either pixel or vector-based, define which parts of the slots are printed, offering users additional creative flexibility. Custom layouts can be converted into reusable templates for repeated use, saving time and ensuring consistency.

Template Editor

The Template Editor in Mirage 5 allows full creative control over your templates. Users can select solid colour or custom image backgrounds, resize and reposition slots using the Slot Frame settings, scale images proportionally or freely, and assign individual masks to each slot. This intuitive editor is designed to save time while supporting professional-quality template creation, reflecting Mirage's user-friendly and flexible operating concept.

Free Layout of Files on the Spread

Mirage 5 enables images to be freely arranged on a spread, allowing overlap, layering, and complex designs such as collages or multipage photo albums. There are no restrictions on placement, giving full creative freedom. Layouts designed in this manner can be instantly converted into templates, making it easy to reuse your custom designs while maintaining efficiency and flexibility in your workflow.

Clear Program Interface

The program interface of Mirage 5 is clean, intuitive, and highly organised. The old "Drop Files Here" window is replaced by a drag-and-drop Print Preview area. All functions are grouped logically in the menu bar, and the Mirage Job Archive is fully integrated, eliminating the need for a separate application. Users can easily undo adjustments or remove all files using the "File → Start Over" option, simplifying workflow management and enhancing usability.

Improved Print Preview

Mirage 5 features a clear, pixel-accurate print preview, displaying all pages side by side in a scrollable area. Navigation buttons allow users to move forward, back, or jump to the first or last page, giving complete control over multi-page layouts. This enhanced preview ensures accurate visualisation of the final print, reducing errors and enabling precise adjustments before printing.

File & Templates Browser

The File & Templates Browser offers an organised view of uploaded images and templates. Users can preview, search, filter (by portrait, landscape, placed, or unplaced), and drag images or templates into the print area as needed. This improved overview simplifies resource management, making it faster and easier to handle large projects while maintaining complete control over file placement and organisation.

Multiple Print Jobs at the Same Time

Mirage 5 allows multiple print jobs to be created, prepared, and managed simultaneously. Users can start, pause, edit, or delete jobs independently, enabling urgent tasks to be printed without interrupting more complex projects. This flexibility ensures smooth workflows, especially in busy print environments, and supports efficient job handling across multiple projects or printers.

"Undo/Redo" Function

Mirage 5 includes a powerful Undo and Redo system that allows users to reverse or reapply recent actions, such as moving images or changing settings. Accessible via the Edit menu or keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl+Z / Shift+Ctrl+Z), this feature ensures safe experimentation. Once a print job is sent, the "Print" button changes to "Print Again" if no further modifications are made, streamlining reprints and workflow management.

Improved Handling and Placement of Embedded Logos

Users can integrate logos directly into print files with full control over size and position. Embedded logos can be moved and scaled using handles, ensuring precise alignment in the print and page preview. New Tools for Image Editing

Mirage 5 introduces advanced image editing tools directly within the software. The Gaussian Blur tool under the "Photo" tab allows softening effects, while the Drop Shadow feature in the "Extra" tab adds depth with adjustable opacity, direction, softness, offset, and colour. All edits are non-destructive, can be applied to multiple images, and fully integrated with the print workflow, eliminating the need for external image editing software.

New Print Mode "Only Black Ink"

Certain printer models are supported with a dedicated "Only Black Ink" mode in Mirage 5, which prints exclusively with black ink, excluding greys. This mode is ideal for monochrome prints, ensuring sharp, high-quality black-and-white output, and is compatible only with supported printer and paper combinations.

Settings Option "Simulation"

The Simulation feature in Mirage 5 allows users to preview how a print will appear on different printers using CMYK profiles.
