Mirage 5 supports Epson SureLab D700, D800, D1000(A) and SL-D500 printers and is available in both single seat and floating licence options, allowing you to use the software on one computer or across multiple computers (one at a time) depending on your needs. It requires an active account on the Mirage licence server and an internet connection to operate, with the single seat licence including an unlock key delivered via email after purchase; additional workstation licences are required if you wish to run Mirage 5 on more than one computer simultaneously, providing flexibility for growing workflows while offering a great way to get a first taste of what Mirage 5 has to offer.

Print Templates

Mirage 5 offers a versatile range of print templates designed to simplify the placement and arrangement of images. Templates contain numbered slots, which are square areas where images can be inserted, rotated, and positioned freely. Slots can overlap partially or fully, and multiple slots can share the same number, automatically filling all identical slots with a single image-perfect for passport or ID photos. Masks, which can be pixel or vector-based, define which parts of each slot will be printed, giving users additional creative control. Custom layouts created in Mirage can also be converted into reusable templates for consistent, time-saving workflows.

Template Editor

The Template Editor allows users to design fully custom templates efficiently, with tools tailored for professional print workflows. Users can choose solid colours or their own images as template backgrounds, adjust slot sizes and positions via the Slot Frame settings, scale images proportionally or freely in the slots, and assign individual masks for precise image control. This editor reflects Mirage's intuitive operating concept and enables the creation of highly creative, labour-saving templates suited for professional printing tasks.

Free Layout of Files on the Spread

Mirage 5 allows images to be freely and independently moved across the spread, enabling overlapping, layering, and creative arrangements such as collages or multipage photo albums. This functionality removes limitations on design, giving full control over image placement. Layouts created in this flexible environment can easily be converted into templates for repeated use, ensuring efficiency while maintaining a high degree of creative freedom.

Clear Program Interface

The user interface in Mirage 5 has been redesigned for simplicity and clarity. The previous "Drop Files Here" window has been eliminated, with files now dragged directly into the Print Preview area. The menu bar has been reorganised to group related functions logically, and the Mirage Job Archive is fully integrated, removing the need for a separate application. Users can also undo changes or restart projects using the "File → Start Over" command, streamlining workflow and reducing clutter.

Improved Print Preview

Mirage 5 provides a pixel-accurate, scrollable print preview that displays all pages side by side. Navigation buttons allow users to move forward, back, or jump to the start or end of the layout, ensuring full oversight of the print job. The improved preview gives a precise representation of how the final print will appear, reducing errors and allowing for quick adjustments before sending jobs to the printer.

File & Templates Browser

The File & Templates Browser provides a central hub to manage images and templates efficiently. Users can view uploaded files at adjustable preview sizes, search, filter (by criteria such as portrait, landscape, placed, or not placed), and drag-and-drop assets into the print area. This enhanced overview makes it easy to organise images, select templates, and quickly manage resources within complex projects, improving workflow productivity.

Multiple Print Jobs at the Same Time

Mirage 5 enables the creation and management of multiple print jobs simultaneously. Users can start, pause, edit, or delete jobs independently, allowing urgent print tasks to be processed while more complex projects remain in preparation. This flexibility is ideal for busy print environments, ensuring that workflows are uninterrupted and jobs can be handled efficiently without waiting for one task to finish before starting another.

"Undo/Redo" Function

The Undo and Redo functionality in Mirage 5 allows users to reverse or reapply recent changes in layout and settings. Whether adjusting image positions, modifying settings, or editing print parameters, actions can be undone step by step via the Edit menu or standard shortcuts (Ctrl+Z / Shift+Ctrl+Z). Once a job is sent to print, the "Print" button automatically changes to "Print Again" if no further modifications have been made, facilitating quick reprints.

Improved Handling and Placement of Embedded Logos

Users can add and manipulate logos directly in the print layout, scaling and positioning them precisely with intuitive mouse controls. Handles appear when hovering over embedded logos, making it simple to resize or reposition branding elements. This functionality ensures accurate integration of logos or overlays without the need for external software, supporting professional-quality print outputs.

New Tools for Image Editing

Mirage 5 introduces enhanced image editing features, including Gaussian Blur under the "Photo" tab for precise softening effects and a Drop Shadow tool in the "Extra" tab to add depth to images. Drop shadow properties, including opacity, direction, softness, offset, and colour, can be adjusted via sliders and colour pickers. All edits are non-destructive and can be applied to multiple images, giving users advanced control over their print-ready files directly within Mirage.

New Print Mode "Only Black Ink"

For select printer models, Mirage 5 offers a dedicated "Only Black Ink" mode, using solely black ink without grey, ensuring true monochrome output. This mode is compatible with certain printer and media combinations and is ideal for professional black-and-white prints, archival work, or specific production requirements.

Settings Option "Simulation"

The Simulation feature allows users to preview how prints will appear on different printers using available CMYK profiles. Located under the "Extra" tab, this proofing function is ideal for evaluating colour accuracy and preparing files for multiple output devices. It helps professionals simulate and adjust their prints in advance, reducing trial-and-error and ensuring precise colour reproduction.

Additional Print Marks

Mirage 5 expands the options for print marks, allowing crop marks to be moved inward via "Inset" to prevent white overlaps. A new "Page Print Marks" feature places marks around entire spreads, accommodating multiple images per page with adjustable gaps. These enhancements provide precise control over trimming and alignment, essential for professional printing and multi-image layouts.

Mirage 5 supports the latest operating systems, including macOS 13 Ventura, Windows 11, and Adobe Creative Cloud 2023, with installation possible on macOS High Sierra or Windows 10 and above.
