Mirage V2026 17" Edition Epson Single Seat Licence

Mirage 17" Edition for Epson includes support for FineArt printers with a 17" (43.2 cm) print width, including Epson Stylus Pro 3800, 3880, 4800, 4880 and 4900, as well as Epson SureColour P800, P906 and P5070 models, and is available as a single seat licence, allowing Mirage 5 to be used on one computer. It requires an active account on the Mirage licence server and an internet connection to operate; additional workstation licences are required if you wish to run the software on more than one computer at the same time, providing flexibility as your workflow expands while offering a great way to get a first taste of what Mirage 5 has to offer.

Print Templates

Mirage 5 includes flexible print templates designed to simplify image placement and layout creation. Templates contain numbered slots, which are square areas where images can be inserted, rotated, and positioned freely. Slots can overlap partially or completely and can be arranged in different layers above or below one another to suit the layout. Each slot is automatically assigned a number and can be automatically filled with images through the template browser. Multiple slots can share the same number, meaning that placing an image in one slot automatically fills all slots with the same number-ideal for passport photos or application images. Mirage also supports masks, which are pixel or vector shapes that define which parts of a slot will be printed, providing additional creative control. Custom layouts can also be saved and reused as templates.

Template Editor

The integrated Template Editor allows users to design their own custom print templates to streamline repetitive workflows. It includes specialised tools for editing slot frames, adjusting slot sizes, and controlling layout positioning. Users can customise template backgrounds by selecting their own image files instead of using a simple colour background. The Slot Image Scale settings determine how images are scaled when placed into a slot, such as proportional filling. In addition, Slot Mask settings allow individual masks to be applied to each slot, providing greater control over how images appear in the final print layout.

Free Layout of Files on the Spread

Mirage 5 enables complete freedom when arranging images on the print spread. Images can be moved and positioned independently anywhere on the page, and they can overlap to create layered compositions. This flexible approach allows users to design creative layouts such as collages or complex multi-image arrangements. The feature is particularly useful for designing multi-page documents such as photo albums. Any layout created in this way can be quickly converted into a reusable template with a single click.

Clear Program Interface

The redesigned Mirage 5 interface improves usability and workflow efficiency. The previous "Drop Files Here" window has been removed, allowing users to simply drag files directly into the Print Preview area. The updated menu bar organises features into clear functional groups, making tools easier to locate. Mirage's Job Archive is now integrated into the main interface, eliminating the need for a separate application to manage previous print jobs. Users can also quickly reset the workspace using "File → Start Over," which removes all files and copies from the printable area without closing the software.

Improved Print Preview

Mirage 5 offers a clearer and more practical print preview that displays all print pages side by side within a scrollable area. This layout allows users to review the entire print job at a glance before printing. Navigation buttons such as "<<", "<", ">", and ">>" make it easy to move between pages or jump directly to the beginning or end of the print sequence, improving efficiency when managing multi-page projects.

File & Templates Browser

The File & Templates Browser provides an improved overview of all uploaded images and available templates. Users can browse, search, and manage files with adjustable preview sizes to suit their workflow. Built-in filtering tools allow quick sorting of files by categories such as already placed, not placed, portrait orientation, or landscape orientation. Images or templates can be quickly added to the print layout through simple drag-and-drop functionality.

Multiple Print Jobs at the Same Time

Mirage 5 allows users to create and manage multiple print jobs simultaneously, providing greater flexibility during production. New jobs can be created using the "File → New" option while existing jobs remain active. This allows complex jobs to be paused during preparation so another file can be printed quickly in the meantime. Users can also delete jobs that are no longer needed, making it easier to manage busy print workflows.

"Undo/Redo" Function

Mirage 5 includes a comprehensive Undo and Redo system that allows users to reverse or reapply recent changes made during editing. Adjustments such as repositioning images or modifying layout settings can be undone step by step using the Edit menu or keyboard shortcuts like Ctrl + Z and Shift + Ctrl + Z. After a print job is sent, the Print button automatically changes to "Print Again" if no further changes are made, enabling fast reprinting of the same job.

Improved Handling and Placement of Embedded Logos

Mirage 5 simplifies the process of adding logos to print layouts. Users can scale and reposition embedded logos directly within the page or print preview using the mouse. When the cursor is placed over an inserted logo, adjustable handles appear, allowing precise resizing and positioning without the need for external editing software.

New Tools for Image Editing

Mirage 5 introduces additional built-in image editing tools within the print interface. Under the Photo tab, users can apply Gaussian blur to images, with the Pixel-Exact Preview helping evaluate the effect accurately. The Extra tab also includes a Drop Shadow feature, allowing images to be printed with realistic shadows. Users can adjust shadow colour, opacity, direction, softness, and the distance between the image and shadow using intuitive slider controls.

New Print Mode "Only Black Ink"

Certain compatible printers support a dedicated "Only Black Ink" print mode in Mirage 5. When enabled, this mode uses only black ink instead of combining black and grey inks. This option is useful for specific monochrome printing applications and is available only with certain printer models and compatible paper and ink combinations.

Settings Option "Simulation"

Mirage 5 includes a Simulation feature that allows users to preview how a print would appear if produced on a different printer. Located under the Extra tab, this proofing tool uses CMYK colour profiles installed on the system to simulate output from other printers. This feature is particularly useful for professional workflows that require colour matching across multiple devices.

Additional Print Marks

Mirage 5 expands finishing options with additional print marking controls. Within the Print Marks settings menu, crop marks can be moved inward using the Inset option to help prevent white edges during trimming. A new Page Print Marks feature also allows marks to be applied around the entire spread rather than just individual images. When multiple images are placed on the page, these marks can surround the complete layout with adjustable spacing.

Support for Current Operating Systems

Mirage 5 supports modern operating systems including macOS 13 Ventura, Windows 11, and Adobe Creative Cloud 2023 applications. Installation requires at least Windows 10 or macOS High Sierra. The software can also communicate with supported printers to retrieve stored custom media settings directly from the device, helping ensure accurate printing configurations and improved workflow efficiency.
