Mirage V2026 17" Edition Canon Floating Licence
Mirage 5 supports Canon imagePROGRAF iPF5100 and PRO-1000 printers and is available as a floating licence, allowing the software to be used across multiple computers, but only on one computer at a time. It requires an active account on the Mirage licence server and an internet connection to operate; additional workstation licences are required if you wish to run Mirage 5 on more than one computer simultaneously, and you can contact us for a quote on additional workstations, providing flexibility for shared workflows while offering a great way to get a first taste of what Mirage 5 has to offer.
Print Templates
Templates are elements designed to be filled with images and contain slots, which are square areas where images can be placed. Images can be freely rotated and positioned within these slots, and the slots themselves can overlap partially or completely and be arranged in different layers by moving them up or down. Each slot is automatically assigned a number and can be automatically filled with images through the Template browser. Multiple slots can share the same number, and when an image is dragged into one of these slots, all slots with the same number are automatically filled with that image, which is especially useful for passport or application photos. Masks provide additional design flexibility by using pixel or vector images to define which parts of a slot will be printed. Additionally, any print layouts you create can be converted into templates and saved for future use, and Mirage 5 includes a variety of ready-to-use templates.
Template Editor
The integrated Template Editor allows users to create custom print templates tailored to their workflow. Designed specifically for efficient template creation, it includes tools for adjusting template backgrounds, slot layouts, and image scaling behaviour. Users can select their own images as template backgrounds instead of simple colour fills. Slot frame settings allow precise editing of slot size and placement, while Slot Image Scale options control how images are fitted into the slots, such as proportional scaling or full fill. Individual masks can also be assigned to each slot for advanced print design options, giving users complete control over template structure and output.
Free Layout of Files on the Spread
Mirage 5 introduces complete freedom in arranging images on the print spread. Images can be moved and positioned independently anywhere on the page, and they can overlap to create layered designs or collages. This flexibility enables creative layouts for multipage documents such as photo albums or presentation prints. Once a layout has been designed, it can be instantly saved as a template and reused later, making it easy to reproduce complex layouts while maintaining a fast workflow.
Clear Program Interface
The Mirage 5 interface has been redesigned for improved usability and efficiency. The previous "Drop Files Here" window has been removed, and files can now simply be dragged directly into the Print Preview area. The reorganised menu bar groups functions logically, making tools easier to locate. The Mirage Job Archive is now integrated into the main interface, eliminating the need for a separate program to manage previous print jobs. Users can also undo changes step by step when adjusting layouts or settings, and the "File → Start Over" option allows all loaded documents and copies to be cleared instantly without closing the application.
Improved Print Preview
The improved print preview provides a clearer view of all pages in a job. Multiple pages are displayed side by side in a scrollable area, allowing users to easily review the full layout before printing. Navigation controls such as "<<", "<", ">", and ">>" allow quick movement between pages or direct navigation to the first or last page. This makes it easier to inspect print arrangements and confirm page order before sending jobs to the printer.
File & Templates Browser
The File & Templates Browser provides a more organised overview of loaded images and available templates. Users can search, select, and place images directly within the preview interface. Filtering tools allow quick sorting by criteria such as placed images, unplaced images, portrait orientation, or landscape orientation. Additional files and templates can be inserted into the print layout using simple drag-and-drop actions, making the workflow faster and more intuitive.
Multiple Print Jobs at the Same Time
Mirage 5 allows users to create and prepare multiple print jobs simultaneously. New print jobs can be created through the "File → New" menu, enabling separate projects to be prepared in parallel. Jobs can be paused, edited, or deleted at any time, whether they are still in preparation or already printed. This flexibility allows users to temporarily pause a complex job and quickly print another file before returning to the original project.
"Undo/Redo" Function
Mirage 5 includes a full Undo and Redo system that allows users to reverse recent changes during the editing process. Adjustments made in the settings dialog or through manual image positioning can be undone step by step using the Edit menu or standard keyboard shortcuts such as Ctrl+Z and Shift+Ctrl+Z. Once a print job has been sent to the printer, the Print button changes to "Print Again" if no further modifications have been made, allowing quick reprints without reconfiguring the job.
Improved Handling/Placement of Embedded Logos
Mirage makes it easy to add and adjust logos within print layouts. Embedded logos can be freely moved, scaled, and positioned directly within the print or page preview using simple mouse controls. By hovering the cursor over a placed logo, adjustment handles appear, allowing precise repositioning and scaling without opening additional menus. This streamlined workflow makes it simple to incorporate branding elements into printed images.
New Tools for Image Editing
Mirage 5 introduces additional image editing tools directly within the printing interface. A new Blur function allows Gaussian blur effects to be applied from the Photo tab, and the Pixel-Exact Preview can be used to accurately judge the strength of the blur. Another new feature is the Drop Shadow tool located in the Extra tab, which allows images to be printed with a shadow effect. Users can customise shadow colour, opacity, direction, softness, and offset distance, providing more creative control over final print appearance.
New Print Mode "Only Black Ink"
Certain supported printer models offer a specialised print mode called "Only Black Ink". When enabled, the print job uses only black ink rather than a combination of black and grey inks. This mode can be useful for specific print applications where pure black ink output is required. Availability of this mode depends on the printer model and the selected paper and ink configuration.
Settings Option "Simulation"
The Simulation feature enables proofing workflows by allowing users to simulate how a print would appear when produced on a different printer. Located in the Extra tab, this function uses CMYK simulation profiles available on the system. This allows experienced users to preview colour output under different printing conditions, helping ensure accurate colour reproduction across various printers and media.
Additional Print Marks
Mirage 5 introduces expanded print marking options for improved production workflows. Crop marks can be moved inward using the "Inset" option to reduce the risk of unwanted white edges. A new Page Print Marks feature allows marks to be placed around the entire spread rather than only around individual images. For example, if multiple images are arranged on one spread, page print marks can outline the entire layout. The spacing between the marks and images can be customised to suit specific production requirements.
Support for Current Operating Systems
Mirage 5 is fully compatible with modern operating systems and creative software environments. It supports macOS 13 Ventura, Windows 11, and Adobe Creative Cloud 2023 applications. Installation requires at least Windows 10 or macOS High Sierra. This ensures the software integrates smoothly with current professional workflows and hardware platforms while providing reliable performance and long-term compatibility.
