The grip provides a larger, more secure hold, and makes shooting in vertical/portrait orientation comfortable thanks to the extra vertical shutter on the battery grip. The grip holds two battery packs (LP-E6 or LP-E6N), or 6 AA batteries.
A wireless remote camera control is also included with the grip.
