The unit is powered by six AA batteries, and when used with alkaline batteries in standby mode it can last up to a year before needing replacement. Weather-resistant and built with a simple black-and-white LCD interface for setup, it also supports SD cards up to 32 GB and stamps each image with date, time and temperature.
